Started in 2002 in Kankakee County, Illinois, Doran Coins serves collectors not only in Illinois and Indiana, but throughout the United States.  The company is based in Casey, Illinois, with its main presence on the Internet, at coin shows in Illinois and Indiana, and an office in downtown Casey.

The owner of the company holds Life Membership in the federally chartered American Numismatic Association, Central States Numismatic Society and the Illinois Numismatic Association, as well as Regular Membership in the Mattoon (Illinois) Coin Club, Fairfield (Illinois) Coin Club, and the Casey (Illinois) Chamber of Commerce.
