Doran Coins was started in 2002 to serve collectors not only in Illinois and Indiana, but throughout the United States.  The company is a home-based business in Casey, Illinois, with it's main presence on the Internet and at coin shows and flea markets in Illinois and Indiana.  As of right now the company does not have a brick-and-mortar store, but in the future that may change.

The owner of the company holds Life Membership in the federally-chartered American Numismatic Association, Central States Numismatic Society and the Illinois Numismatic Association, as well as Regular Membership in the Indiana State Numismatic Association, Mattoon (Illinois) Coin Club, Fairfield (Illinois) Coin Club, and the Casey (Illinois) Chamber of Commerce.
